THE GOAT WALK LAND APPEAL

The land behind the Goat Walk (woodland strip and two fields) will be sold on 27 February 2015.

The Topsham Community Association and Topsham Society, with overwhelming support from a packed public meeting on 12 February, are appealing for donations to raise funds to bid for this land on behalf of the community of Topsham.

The land cannot be easily valued as, although designated Grade II agricultural land, its location is unique, and it may be seen by some as a development opportunity. What we as a community can bid depends on how much money we raise by 27 February, when sealed bids have to be made. How important is this land and its role in the character of Topsham to you, and would you like the people of Topsham to control its future? We have already received many offers and some substantial commitments. Please be as generous as you can. Every pound counts.

The Topsham Community Association, as a legally constituted body, can make the offer on behalf of the community. If TCA’s bid were to be successful, TCA would transfer ownership of the land to a body, probably a Trust, under the control of the people of Topsham. The broad objectives of the Trust would be to protect the land from housing development, and ensure the maintenance of its rural character, while benefiting the people of Topsham.

If you can make a donation please complete and return this form (left click to view and print or right click to save and print later). We need to receive your donation by Wednesday 25 February in order to prepare our bid. Your donation will be returned to you in the event that our bid is unsuccessful, as long as you have filled in your details on the form and returned it. We cannot accept anonymous donations.

If you need any further details or help please contact Chris Buckingham (873422), John Bradley (877344) or Jeremy Rawlings (873509).

A once in a lifetime opportunity to protect the land for the benefit of the community. Your contribution could make the difference. Please help.

Thank you for your support.
